3. What are the main differences between using the PSK Endo-Suction Cleaning System (ESCS and traditional syringe methods?
The biggest differences are the advantages in time- up to 90% quicker, ease of use, and economical. With syringes you have the danger of developing RSI and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. See the time savings here.

4. How the the PSK Endo-Suction Cleaning System reduces the pre-cleaning time of scopes?
Depending on the endoscope it is possible to obtain various reductions in the cleaning time, but to illustrate the scale of savings a Pentax endoscope with 3 channels was chosen. Average cleaning times for cleaning such endoscopes using the traditional syringe method may take a minimum 715 seconds but using the PSK Endo-Suction Cleaning System only between 75 - 175 seconds. This is 75-90% quicker!

6. How was the Endo-Suction Cleaning System tested before it was introduced to the market?
The first medical trial took place in 7 hospitals/clinics in Melbourne, Australia in 1994. A second trial took place 2 months later in a further 9 hospitals around Australia.

7. How long has it been on the market?
The first models were released to the Australian market in 1995. After this the PSK ESCS was exhibited over many years in Austria, Japan, Italy, and USA. Since its introduction, it has become a house-hold item in many endoscopy units around the world.

8. Who are the current users?
The Endo-Suction Cleaning System is currently being used in endoscope clinics/hospitals in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, United Arab Emirates and the USA.


9. Have microbiology tests been performed? What were the results?
Microbiology tests were performed at the Peninsula Endoscopy Centre in Melbourne, Australia 24 hours after cleaning each endoscope. Individual endoscopy channels were flushed with Ringer solution. The specimens were sent to the Pathology Department. From more than 100 tests performed, only one showed Candida growth. This was due to the endoscope not being completely dried, and left wet overnight. See the microbiological results here on page 7.
Since these tests, the ESCS has been used world-wide in thousands of procedures with no negative results.

10. What are the statistical findings related to the reduction of blockages?
During regular everyday usage of the PSK ESCS in two endoscopy clinics (where more than 10,000 procedures were performed per year), the probability of a blockage occurring was P<0.001.
